Conjecture: Some auto-immune diseases are caused by the tissue, not a problem with the immune system

چکیده

Applying highly sensitive modern immune profiling techniques to the blood or inflamed tissue of auto-immune patients with one of the common T-cell mediated diseases fails to detect large clonal expansions or other signs of a dysregulated immune system. Additionally, these new methods have shown that self-reactive Tcells are found in the periphery (and are not completely negatively selected in the thymus as previously believed). Combining these new data with well-established studies in auto-immunity leads to the conjecture that certain auto-immune diseases are likely to be caused by defects in tissue, not by dysregulation of the adaptive immune system. In particular, one hypothesis is that specific tissues up-regulate HLA class 2 genes, presenting epitopes that are bound by CD4 + helper T cells, which facilitates an immune response against the tissue specific cells. peer-reviewed) is the author/funder. Vitiligo and auto immune diseases: A survey of 100 patients

Vitiligo is an autoimmune skin disease which is characterized by depigmented patches due to loss of pigment cells. Evidence suggests that cell-mediated immunity plays a role in melanocyte destruction while some patients have antibodies to melanocytes or melanocytic proteins. Vitiligo is strongly associated with a number of autoimmune disorders. Autoimmune thyroiditis is the most prevalent disea...

The Role of Interleukin (IL-22) in immune response to human diseases

Background and aims: IL-22 is an alpha- helical cytokine. IL-22 binds to a heterodimeric cell surface receptor composed of IL-10R2 and IL-22R1subunits. IL-22R is expressed on tissue cells, and it is absent on immune cells. L-22 and IL-10 receptor chains play a role in cellular targeting and signal transduction to selectively initiate and regulate immune responses. The aim of this study was to i...

The Role of Inflammation and Changes of Adipose Tissue-Resident Immune Cells in Increasing the Risk of Cancer: A Narrative Review

The incidence of obesity, as a major health problem, has increased significantly over the past decades. This condition is associated with an increased risk of cancers, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. The current study aimed to investigate the effects of inflammation and changes of adipose tissue-resident immune cells on increasing the risk of cancer in obese individuals. In obesit...

A Review of Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases with Skin Manifestations

Introduction: Primary immunodeficiencies (PID) are rare heterogeneous disorders with defects in which one or more components of the immune system are malfunctioning. Clinical presentations of the patients according to type of immunodeficiency are variable. The majority of these patients are susceptible to infections depending on the type of disorder. In these patients, one of the most important...

Hybrid artificial immune system and simulated annealing algorithms for solving hybrid JIT flow shop with parallel batches and machine eligibility

This research deals with a hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with parallel batching, machine eligibility, unrelated parallel machine, and different release dates to minimize the sum of the total weighted earliness and tardiness (ET) penalties. In parallel batching situation, it is supposed that number of machine in some stages are able to perform a certain number of jobs simultaneously. First...
